Dylan Cooper, Modern Australian Hardwood Timber Desk (Student)

I constructed a modern timber desk featuring Australian hardwoods, an epoxy resin pour, dovetailed drawers and a finger jointed leg. The tabletop and waterfall end consist of a randomized pattern of blackbutt, jarri, spotted gum and redgum with an epoxy resin pour through the middle. The dovetailed drawers are made from Victorian ash with a plywood base and redgum handleless drawer fronts. The finger jointed leg consists of blackbutt and redgum to create a stunning yet sturdy finishing touch. I used a hard wearing high gloss two-pack polyurethane to give a durable yet glossy finish that enhances the natural beauty of Australian hardwoods. My goal for this project was to create a stunning yet functional computer desk that I could use to showcase my abilities and achieve something I was proud of without exceeding $2000. I believe I have met all my criteria to the best of my abilities and an extremely stoked with how this project has turned out.
