Steve Brecht, Mirror Credenza (WORLD 2021)

Country
United States of America

I began by hand selecting the highest grade American black walnut for its rich color and clear grain, then employ centuries old methods of woodworking to create a piece of furniture meant to last for generations. In the Mirror Credenza you find hand cut mitered dovetail, and book-matched casework, along with hand cut dovetailed drawers. On the face, its most striking feature, you see a set of shop sawn quartered veneer panel doors, selected to show off a beautiful cut of crotch figure. Below that, continuous grain drawer fronts with shop made inset handles. Natural non-toxic oils and waxes finished off the surface, highlighting the natural warmth and beauty of the wood.
