Andy Xuan, Jarrah Grandfather Clock (Student Awards 2017)

Grandfather clock made from jarrah with Hermle clock movement. Date of making: November 2016 - August 2017. Dimensions: 2000mm hight x 400mm wide x 300mm deep. I have made an antique jarrah grandfather clock ideal for a living room. The dark red colour of the jarrah blends well with the existing furniture of my home and the classical nature of the project effortlessly brings about a traditional atmosphere. My clock includes a number of different mouldings and curved edges. The base and waist mouldings were made by gluing together numerous profiles together to achieve the large and complex curves. The clock also consists of four identical lathe turned pillars and one unique top finial. There are four doors in total. The top side door allows access to the mechanism used for tuning and maintenance, while the bottom door provides extra storage space for tools and clock parts. Andy Xuan, Knox Grammar.
