Robyn Mauger, Elegant Box (BOWLS, BOXES 2021)

ELEGANT BOX – 130x130x250mm The inspiration for this box came while watching the televised events of the Olympic Games in Tokyo. The design was developed as the box was being created giving it a “living” feeling making it a fun experience. The Padauk miter jointed box features legs of hand fashioned Huon Pine with Queensland Ebony dots complimented by Huon Pine dots on the box itself. The lid ornament is also the lid pull grip made of Ebony, Huon Pine and Padauk in increasing circles sitting on a pair of curved legs joined in mirror image. After sanding to 1200 grit the box was finished with tung oil. The interior features black flocking.
