Charlie Jewkes, Blackwood & Beech Hall Table (Student)

I designed and built this over the back end of 2019 and the start of 2020 under the teaching of Roy Schack at the Brisbane School of Fine Woodwork. The top, drawer front and inlay trim are reclaimed Tasmanian blackwood, while the frame is European beech. The goal was to build a piece of fine furniture with a handcut dovetailed drawer, for a light and airy hall landing. I had not made a dovetailed drawer before. I am very pleased with how it has come up, particularly the blackwood inlays on the tapered legs, and the finish of the dovetailed drawer.
