Anthony Yang, 7 tear drops (STUDENT 2021)

The idea for my coffee table came form Greek Mythology: the Pleiades were the seven daughters of the Titan Atlas. He was forced to hold up the sky for eternity, and was therefore unable to protect his 7 daughters - thus Zeus transformed them into 7 stars. I further imagined that 7 drops of tears from them, created 7 raindrops falling from the sky. Production: No CNC, routers + circle jigs + bandsaw + curved hand plane + lathe were used to do most of the job. Steel rods were drilled through every structure so the timbers are not under stress when standing, wooden interconnected structure makes it firm. There are several ways to appreciate the piece. As a functional piece and from an aesthetic form. I also encourage you to touch the raindrops ripples and feel them, making it as part of your experience.
