Woodpeckers Ultra-Shear tooling system for turners

Here's a tooling system for turners that’s designed to deliver better results while eliminating the need for sharpening, not to mention bypassing the outlay required for sharpening gear.

Ultra-Shear nano-grain carbide inserts are razor sharp, long lasting and replaceable. When an edge eventually dulls simply rotate to a new edge. Five cutter styles are available. 

Ultra-Shear tools are made in the USA by Woodpeckers using the same kind of steel that’s used in Nascar roll cages. The video below shows not only how the tools are used, but also how they are machined and then put through a two-stage heat treating process. Smoother shanks glide smoothly across toolrests for smoother cuts. The handles are made from rock maple with a hand rubbed oil finish and have protective end caps. The ferrules are made from aircraft grade aluminium. Altogether this tooling system for woodturners is worth considering.
