Cooroora Woodworkers Club is holding its annual Woodcraft Show in the Memorial Hall Cooroy to showcase the beauty of natural timber and the myriad of ways working with it, giving local woodworkers a very public space to display their creations. The show will be open on Friday, 14 and Saturday 15 October.

There will be a variety of beautifully crafted wood pieces to admire as well as for sale. The major raffle prize this year is a Bushie’s Bar (shown above) replicating a rustic corrugated iron water tank from New Guinea rosewood with a solid red ironbark top.

"This piece, made by a team of our own woodies, would be attractive in any living room /patio setting. We have also a turned gum-burl bowl and a slab of locally milled timber as the minor prizes," said club member Steve Chapman. "Our show includes competition displays from regional wood clubs, local high schools and wood artisans as well as a People’s Choice competition. A major attraction this year’s Woodcraft show will be master sculptor/carver Shane Christensen at work carving, using chainsaws, iconic Aussie fauna."

Steve Chapman sums it up: "The kids are catered for with showbags, and boxmaking kits are available.  Relax, enjoy a cuppa, enjoy a nibble and catch your breath in our Woodies canteen. There really is something for everyone."
