If you love fine tools, fine timber and fine woodwork the historic town of Mittagong, NSW is definitely the place to be on the weekend of February 18–19.
On that weekend at Sturt School of Wood, you will be able to see demonstrations and displays by some Australia’s finest toolmakers and specialist timber suppliers, as well as an exhibition of work by renowned furniture designer/makers.
Toolmakers and timber merchants who will attend Sturt’s Tools & Techniques Weekend include Colen Clenton, HNT Gordon Classic Planes, Japanese Tools, Gifkins Dovetail, J.D. Woodworm, Vesper Tools, Allwood Specialty Timbers, Dunstone Design and Keith Houston.
In addition daily woodwork demonstrations will be conducted by furniture makers Neil Erasmus, Evan Dunstone, Col Hosie, Phoebe Everill and Ruth Thompson.
Alumni – Selected graduates of the Sturt School for Wood 1985-2005 is an exhibition of work by some of Australia’s leading furniture makers. The exhibition runs from Sunday February 18 to Sunday April 2 and will be opened at 11am by Linda Nathan, Wood Review Editor.
Featured artists include: Alex Springall, Blair Ossendryver, Chris Wilford, Geoff Tonkin, Jeff Freeman, John Gallagher, Laura McCusker, Mark Lenny, Nick Statham, Paul Nicholson, Roy Schack, Stuart Faulkner, Stuart Pinkerton and Warwick Wright.
Admission and parking is free, and food and drink is available on site.
