The video crafted by Sydney designer maker Nick Pedulla is as flowing and smoothly sculpted as the blackwood Sculpted Cabinet he entered in Wood Review’s Maker of the Year awards.

Nick describes his cabinet as ‘a functional piece of art’. The video shows how the sculpted doors and drawer fronts are created from stack laminated material that is machined and held together with steel rods. The facets are then roughly carved using power tools, then glued together and carved by hand to refine the flowing shapes. When closed, the natural curves of the doors and drawers meet seamlessly with the straight hard edges of the outer shell.
