Tools of the Artisan

Comments Comments

In the September issue of Wood Review magazine (#96) we feature the incredible Maison de L'Outil et de la Pensee Ouvriere in France. Translated, the name refers not only to the hand tools employed by artisans, but also to their way of thinking.

MOPO is situated on the Seine river in the northern-east of France, in the medieval city of Troyes. Over 11,000 tools from the 1600s through to the 1800s are displayed, while the collection includes another 20,000, some of which are brought out for temporary exhibitions. The video shown here adds another dimension to the story.
