It gives us great pleasure to announce the lucky winner of our Ultimate Tool Package comprising just under $5000 worth of fabulous tools courtesy of Timberbits. The competition was open to subscribers to Wood Review magazine.

As shown above, the package included a Triton TRA001 router and Triton WX7 workcentre and contractor saw, Arbortech mini-grinder and Arbortech power chisel, Vicmarc slow speed grinder, Hamlet 5-piece woodturning chisel starter set and a Tormek T-4 sharpening system. The lucky winner was Bryan Russell from Highfields, Queensland.

Bryan sent us some snaps of the new gear looking very well suited to its new home in his workshop. He also penned a few words for us about himself and how his win also meant good fortune for another woodworker.

'I reached retirement age this year and the notification of my win came just a few days after my birthday. Wow what a fantastic birthday/retirement present.

'I have been doing woodwork, on and off, for many years in many forms. My much loved and cared for tools have served me well! To make room for my new “toys” I decided to pass on my pre-loved equipment to the next generation of wood enthusiast, a young friend named Anthony, who had spent time with me in the shed.

'Over the previous school holidays we had made a full sized squatters chair together. He was absolutely thrilled to receive the tools to set up his own shed!

'I make small items from spurtles, wooden carving boards up to coffee tables, squatter’s chairs and bespoke pieces for friends and family. These tools will see me well into my coming retirement years.

'I love Australian Wood Review magazine and can only dream to aspire to the artisan efforts that you shows us.'

Big congratulations from all of us at AWR to Bryan and also to Anthony, and many thanks to our generous sponsors for making this happen!!
