From Kerry Cameron, Redcliffe and District Woodcraft Sociey

A Club Challenge to foster and encourage members to apply more than one woodcraft technique in creating a woodcraft item was proposed to the Club in October with the judging date set for the last Tuesday in November with the results announced at the Christmas gathering on Tuesday 3rd December.

Nineteen entries were received with most being from an individual member although four were collaborative. Exclusions from the challenge were four members that have dominated past competitions, these members acted as mentors and advisers to those seeking advice and encouragement in trying new techniques. Bonus points were allotted for the number of techniques used.

Generous prizes were sponsored by Carbatec, Australian Wood Review and My Tool Store and are greatly appreciated by all concerned they were a good motivating factor.

It has been an excellent activity to get members to try a new technique in their woodcraft journey and hobby. The winner’s podium was dominated by Warrick King who really took on the challenge and produced several outstanding entries. In all, it was a great experience by all involved……. Kerry Cameron.
