An exhibition showcasing sustainable art practice by two community groups will soon open at Hatch Contemporary Artspace.

The Victorian Woodworkers Association returns to Hatch with Re-Create, an exhibition of furniture and fine woodworking. All the pieces in this exhibition have been created from waste materials – wood that has been rescued or found, and re-created into beautiful, useful objects.

Unfinished Business - Finished is a collection of work by Textile Art Community in partnership with Yarra Plenty Regional Library and Banyule City Council. In the last few months of 2017, Textile Art Community collected all manner of unfinished art and craft projects, and unused materials donated by people around Banyule, then documented their stories, and invited artists and makers to pick a project to transform into a finished artwork. You are invited to see the process and results of this initiative and join in a few crafting workshops with Textile Art Community.

Re-Create and Unfinished Business open on February 8 and runs until March 3, 2018 at Hatch Contemporary Artspace, 14 Ivanhoe Pde, Ivanhoe, Victoria.

Gallery hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-5pm
