Not measuring spoons, but beautiful examples of spooncraft carved by Carol Russell who will also teach at this year's Spoonies in the Tweed.

Spoonies in the Tweed is a weekend camp for woodcarvers held annually in the Tweed Valley. This year it will be held on October 5–6 and led as usual by master craftsman Robert Howard.

The camp is held for woodworkers of all levels however a special Artisan Challenge is also offered to participants. Details of the challenge are released ahead of time so they can prepare.

For 2019, the challenge is to make a set of handcarved measuring spoons. A minimum of three spoons must form part of a related series. Traditionally, measuring spoons range from 1/4 teaspoon to a cup measurement and of course it is ideal that they accurately measure the labelled amount.

Apart from those parameters the way is clear to creating different bowl shapes, handles and ornamentation – in fact creativity is encouraged.
