James Krenov

James Krenov is widely regarded as one of the most influential woodworkers of the twentieth century. His work is noted for balancing an intensely personal vision with uncompromising craftsmanship, and his elegant use of line, proportion, detail, and material remains unparalleled. Through his teaching and writing he inspired generations of woodworkers.

Based in the US, The Krenov Foundation's mission is three-fold: establish and maintain an online archive of James Krenov's work, assist woodworking students and schools with scholarships, and provide financial assistance to woodworking exhibitions.

Recently the foundation added a $2500 award for an emerging fine woodworking professional to assist that person as an artist-in-residence, or as a visiting scholar at a nationally recognized woodworking school or craft centre.

The award may be used for any residency beginning no later that August 31, 2016. Applications will be accepted until August 31 this year.
