The month of May ramps up for woodworkers with Wood Dust 23, the lastest incarnation of an event which the organisers describe as ‘not your usual woodworking show’.

From May 18 to 21, 2023 a series of woodworking events are timed to take place in various venues. ‘Masterclasses’ led by international and local makers will take place in a number of Melbourne workshops.

On the weekend of May 20 and 21, US makers Jimmy DiResta and April Wilkerson (and their teams) will go head-to-head in a woodworking ‘tournament’. Their task is to complete a series of projects dictated by popular choice, as determined in a pre-event competition. ‘The Woodworker Games’ will take place at Melbourne’s Meat Market in North Melbourne and also includes a Timber and Tools Marketplace.

The tournament will be preceded on the Friday night with an ‘Insiders Dinner’, while on the following night ABC television presenter and Melbourne Football Club president and woodworker Kate Roffey will host a Q&A style ‘Yarn’.

The program is still developing however tickets for the weekend event are already on sale.
