Elemental Brisbane Exhibition opens at Reverse Garbage Queensland in Woolloongabba at 6pm on October 15 and runs until October 22.
This year's exhibition celebrates the amazing works artists create using elements originally destined for landfll, PAPER – METAL – WOOD – FIBRE as the raw materials for their art.
Brisbane is a city greater than the sum of its parts. Reverse Garbage Queensland has been rescuing elements and materials from businesses and making them available to the Brisbane community of artists, crafters, DIYers and educational professionals for 18 years. Each year we celebrate these people with an exhibition.
All works in the exhibition, as with the Emporium gift shop, are constructed of at least 75 per cent recycled materials and include futuristic pieces of steampunk jewellery, original leather work, re-fashioned and reinvented clothing, handmade paper and mosaic.
Opening night promises to be full of inspiring and innovative Brisbane art and craft, live music from the Jesse Morris Band, a re-fashion parade, sculptural installation, late-night shopping in the Woolloongabba Warehouse, food and drinks and celebrations. This is a free community event.
A week of celebrating Elemental Brisbane will continue with exhibitor master-class workshops and fnishes with a family team marble run event on Saturday October 22.
