Dreamscapes – what is real and what is not? is an exhibition of sculptural works and paintings that challenges contemporary notions and beliefs.

For wood artist Ian Thwaites it is the culmination of ‘twenty years exploring the boat form, and the ideas that can be conveyed using this vessel to carry themed messages that relate to the environment, politics, infidelity, nautical themes, vanity and some autobiographical observations.’

Ian Thwaites is a West Australian artist who has worked with overseas artists such as Todd Hoyer, Hayley Smith and Stephen Hogbin and most recently in this exhibition with local painters Chris Bellamy and Christopher Lees, along with ceramicist Maria Chatzinikolaki.

The exhibition is on show at the Margaret River Art Gallery and officially ends on January 18, however Ian’s work will remain on display there until the end of March.

Margaret River Art Gallery is situated at 4/1 Charles West Avenue, Margaret River, WA.
