Design in Wood Exhibition

Every year the San Diego Fine Woodworkers Association (SDFWA) host one of the largest exhibitions of its kind in the world. In this video, SDFWA exhibition co-ordinater Ed Gladney introduces the 34th annual Design in Wood and some of the associated demonstrations that take place.

During the course of Design in Wood, SDFWA members make 50 child-sized chairs in a workshop setup that replicates a 19th century cabinet shop. The demonstration serves to illustrate hand tool techniques to those who visit the exhibition and the chairs are afterwards donated to local charities.

The 2011 Design in Wood exhibition was featured in Wood Review issue 73.
