Melbourne is about to explode in a festival of craft and design. Craft Victoria’s annual Craft Contemporary event launches October 1. Over 31 days the festival will feature more than 100 projects from some of Australia's most exciting makers, artisans and designers exploring contemporary expressions of craft – held throughout Melbourne and beyond.

A packed program of craft-focused exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations, talks and more is on offer, including:

Makers in Residence: Six will share insights into their practice and allow audiences to follow a creative process from beginning to end.

Virtual Open Studios: Sessions of eight live online studio visits with some of Australia’s most exciting craft artists and makers.

The Chair: The festival’s headlining exhibition at Craft’s Watson Place gallery.
