Chris Fox’s Interloop Public Art Project

December 4, 2017 marked the official opening of Interloop, a large sculpture commissioned by Transport NSW which is now suspended above the escalators at Wynyard Station, Sydney.

Chris Fox, an artist who works across architecture and installation practices, was commissioned to design and manage the project. Old heritage timber escalator treads were ‘stitched’ together to create two looping pathways for what is now a major public art project that preserves and celebrates an important part of Sydney’s history.

The project was six months in design and development, 12 weeks in fabrication and installed in 48 hours.
