Marine ply, Tas oak stand
1400mm x 1100 x 400mm
The horse consists of 18 layers of ply cut into a pattern with the centre of the body pieces hollowed out to make the horse lighter. These were doweled, glued together and then carved into the shape of a horse. This was done using a bandsaw, jigsaw, Arbortech grinder and an orbital sander. The horse was then sanded, primed, painted and accessories added. The stand was cut from Tasmanian oak, assembled and stained.
The photos were taken by Maddi Clarke and her woodwork teacher Mr Barker.
