From Rob Jones, on behalf of Collaboration WA

With the passing of Jack de Vos, on Saturday the 13th of May 2017, Western Australia lost one of its greatest wood artists, and he will be sorely missed by everyone that knew him.

Jack was a long time member of the Woodturners Association of WA. He was also a founding member, and former committee member of Collaboration WA Inc. At our collaboration workshops, he could always be relied upon, to produce a number of beautiful forms for others to work on – we were so lucky to have Jack as part of our little group.

Jack had a great talent, and was always willing to share his skills, and ideas with his fellow woodworkers. He was always in great demand as a demonstrator, both at home and overseas.

Just a couple of weeks ago, he was reminiscing about the demonstration tours he did in the US and Canada, the places he'd been, the friends he had made, and all of this came from his simple love of wood

Jack had great faith, which helped sustain him, through good times and bad, and he was confident that he would meet you all again one day.

Our thoughts and sympathy go out to all of Jack's family, at this very sad time.

Please feel free to post your thoughts and comments below. – Ed.
