Roy Schack is one of Australia’s best exponents of fine woodworking. In addition to designing and making furniture Roy runs The Brisbane School of Fine Woodwork which he established in 1998.

Classes take place in his well appointed workshop in a rural setting in Samford Valley, around 20km north west of Brisbane. With a general limit of only four students per course, participants are guaranteed to enjoy a focused learning experience.

Courses range from a 5-day basics course, to one month and three month intensives, where students learn a variety of hand tool and machining techniques while building study pieces such as a hall table and cabinet on stand.

In the video Roy talks about his school and how the classes are designed to help students gain not just skills, but also the confidence to go on and tackle their own projects.
