Colin Fardon, Wanderer (Furniture)

This cabinet was named after the wanderer butterfly inlayed in the last compartment, it features 40 hand dovetailed drawers with solid drawer bottoms, three secret compartments, 12 panels of serpentine stone from Lightning Ridge that are hand cut and polished, over 15 different species of timber including Brazilian mahogany, ebony, east Indian rosewood, ivory wood, Zebrano, amboyna and many more. The last three small drawers are made from Australian red cedar that was a stair tread out of the original post office in Sydney. All of the inlays are hand drawn and made out of natural and some dyed veneers. The front and back of every door and both ends feature different inlays. The cabinet is French polished with orange shellac and in total the cabinet took 1137 hours to complete.
