Cody Withford, Cedar Strip Canoe (Student Awards 2017)

A 4.4m long strip canoe called the 'Puddle Duck' weighing around 25kg was made out of Western red cedar, Tasmanian oak and jarrah including components such as stainless steel hooks and screws and a plastic and rubber waterproof compartment for my year 12 HSC woodwork project, built over 6 months of intense work using all sorts of techniques and designs including wood bending, routing, fibre glassing and many more. I started building in February 2017 and finished on the 10th of August 2017. And she floats amazingly well! Photos taken my my mum, Lisa Mason and myself.
