Joshua Griffiths-Hunt, Bodger's lathe (Student Awards 2018)

This is my take on a traditonal style lathe used by the bodgers in northern England that I have made from pine and other recycled materials that I found around the school. The legs system is made form a fake plastic wood, that was once a bench. The purpose of making this was so that I could both learn a bit about woodturning, and also so that I could make a chair for my year 12 VCE. I also like the aspect of entirely off the grid, with no electricity required. I am in the process of creating a shavehorse so that I can make my blanks round more easily. The total floor space required is about two square metres. My sister took the photos. Year 11, Mount Waverley Secondary Collage, Victoria Teacher: Mr Ritchie
