Entries are now invited to IFDA International Furniture Design Competition Asahikawa 2020.

This triennial competition has been held since 1990 and 2020 marks its eleventh edition in the year that Japan also stages the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. The spirit of IFDA is ‘friendly international exchange’ as it serves to showcase ‘the future of wood furniture design’.

The process of application involves submitting images of work or prototypes thereof. Prototypes can be made n Asahikawa or entrants may elect to produce and ship them (at their own cost).

A panel of local and overseas judges will determine significant cash Gold, Silver and Bronze Leaf awards. Winners’ and finalists’ work will be exhibited at Asahikawa Design Week 2020 in June next year.

The registration fee is ¥6,000 per entry and up to six entries are permitted. The deadline for entry is October 31, 2019.
