The Art of Simplicity
After 30 years of creating turned and carved artworks in wood, Terry Martin has discovered a newfound delight in going back to basic forms. Returning to basics after decades of visual and thematic exploration has come almost as a revelation.
The titled of Terry's exhibition of new work mirrors the stripped back subject: Bowls. Somehow we already know this will be an investigation of line and form delivered with all the subtlety that a master craftsman can bring to the fore.
The exhibition runs from November 16 until December 3 at Gallery Shin, 354 Montague Rd, West End, Brisbane 4101.
Opening hours are: Tuesday to Friday: 11:00 am to 4:00 pm Saturday: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Sunday and Monday closed.
As an added plus for those who also turn wood Terry will demonstrate in front of the gallery on Saturdays from 11:30 am till 3 pm. Dates of the demos are November 19 and 26, and December 3.Learn more about Terry Martin here and from his website.
