From February 14 to April 3 Sturt Gallery in Mittagong, NSW will showcase the work of furniture designer/maker Warwick Powis.

Warwick Powis was once a mechanical engineer whose interest in woodworking led him to eventually study full-time at Sturt School For Wood. He graduated in 1999.

Warwick lives and has a small workshop in the historic mining village of Mount Kembla situated in the escarpment foothills behind Wollongong in New South Wales.

Warwick’s work centres around contemporary but practical furniture design influenced by the simplicity of Japanese design and the design detail and workmanship displayed in the work of James Krenov, Charles Rennie Mackintosh among others.

The exhibition opens 11am, Sunday 14 February as part of the Tools & Techniques Weekend program.
