WorldSkills Australia will this year proudly present Australia’s flagship skills and trades event, Skills Show Australia 2018, in Sydney. Proudly funded by the NSW Government, the Skills Show is the only vocational education and training (VET) focused event in Australia.

Skills Show Australia 2018 will take place from June 2 to 4 and is expected to attract thousands of Australian and international visitors, industry leaders and local spectators.The Skills Show is a celebration of trades, skills, vocational education and training and above all - industry excellence. Visitors to the Show will be provided with an opportunity to discover future careers through interactive events, demonstrations and competitions.

The Skills Show will also play host to Australia’s most prestigious skills and trade competition, the WorldSkills Australia National Championships 2018. Hundreds of young people from across Australia will compete to be recognised as the nation’s best in about 50 different vocational skills from carpentry, bricklaying and construction through to auto body repair, welding and cookery. Each competitor will be vying for the opportunity to represent Australia in the 45th WorldSkills Competition, to be held in Kazan, Russia, in 2019.

The National Championships - Witness Australia’s Best Young Tradies in action

Every two years, the WorldSkills Australia National Championships event is an electrifying culmination of months of training for hundreds of the nation’s best young tradespeople. Each competitor has trained and studied to earn their spot to compete in the national circuit after medaling at a regional level.

The competitors come from across Australia and represent dozens of trades and skills from a diverse range of industries. Come and witness the next generation of skilled tradespeople in their element.

Woodwork Competitors

The Cabinetmaking competition will have twelve competitors vying for gold, silver and bronze throughout the 2, 3 and 4 June. Competitors will represent sixteen different regions from around the country including Ballarat, Canberra, Melbourne & the Gold Coast.

The Joinery competition will have eight competitors vying for gold, silver and bronze throughout the 2, 3 and 4 June. Competitors will represent sixteen different regions from around the country including Adelaide, Geelong, Hunter Valley and Illawarra.

The Carpentry competition will have twelve competitors vying for gold, silver and bronze throughout the 2, 3 and 4 June. Competitors will represent sixteen different regions from around the country including Brisbane, Central Victoria, Sydney and Tasmania.

Try’aSkill

Want to learn something new? Participants can observe and experience an unmatched variety of skilled trade and technology careers, by watching the competitions, then participating in Try’aSkill demonstrations and networking with hundreds of industry and educational experts.

Tech Hub

How will technology affect the trades of today, and tomorrow? The Skills Show Tech Hub will provide visitors with the latest and greatest in STEM research and innovations, including demonstrations and presentations from AWS (Amazon Web Services) and VEX Robotics.

Skills Pathway Expo

What current training options are out there ensuring your industryis in high demand? The Skills Pathway Expo has been specifically designed by Velg Training and WorldSkills Australia to provide an opportunity for those visiting Skills Show Australia 2018 to make immediate and direct connections to RTOs who offer nationally recognised qualification vocational pathways.

The Skills Show Australia 2018 in Sydney is a free event will be held on Saturday June 2nd, Sunday June 3rd and Monday June 4th at the ICC Sydney. Registrations are open online at www.skillsshow.org.au
