Talk to different woodworkers and you're likely to hear differing methods for sharpening edge tools. It will be a case however of 'all roads lead to Rome', because razor sharp tools are the ones that will give you the best results, and ironically are the safest to use.

Damion Fauser writes for Australian Wood Review and also teaches woodwork from his Darra, Qld workshop. In this video Damion demonstrates some the basic principles and techniques of sharpening that he will cover in a weekend workshop on August 22, from 9:30am – 2pm. Participants will learn the theory of a sharp edge, mechanical and hand sharpening methods, and how to sharpen chisels, handplanes, scrapers and spokeshaves.

Cost is $165 including materials and lunch, places are limited. Email Damion Fauser or phone 0407 522 207.
