Perth tools, timbers and techniques event in April

Now an annual favourite on the West Australian woodworking calendar, Perth Wood School's Tools Timbers & Techniques 2019 will take place at Auswest Timbers, 455 Orrong Road, Welshpool on Saturday April 6, 9am – 4pm. On site parking is available.

As always, the focus is on woodworking hand tools, timbers, techniques and free entry makes this annual woodworking event a top value experience.

The displays are comprehensive and this year visitors can expect to see more demonstrations presented by members of the Fine Woodworking Association and the Hand Tool Preservation Society as well as those provided by the Perth Wood School. The schedule for FWA demonstrations includes:

Japanese Kumiko with Allan Waugh 9am - 4pm
Marking out Tools & Techniques with Derek Cohen 10am - 10:30am
Bookmatching veneers for small boxmaking with Martin Burgoyne 10:45am - 11:15am
Hand sawing technique with Derek Cohen 11:30am - 11:45am
Hinges and Catches for small boxmaking with Martin Burgoyne 12:15pm - 12:45pm
Using a shooting board with Derek Cohen 1pm - 1:15pm
Making and using a scratchstock with Geoff Ryan 1:30pm - 1:45pm
Flattening a board with Geoff Glasson 2pm - 2:15pm
Shooting an edge with Geoff Glasson 2:15pm - 2:30pm

Fine tools and timbers along with experts on hand to demonstrate and discuss woodworking are the reason for the growing popularity of this event.

Participating vendors and demonstrators include Carbatec, Timbecon, Lie-Nielsen Toolworks, HNT Gordon, Auswest Timbers, Japanese Tools Australia, Boffins Books, Perth Kid's Shed, Kerrie Bear Veneers, U Resin, Hand Tool Preservation Society WA, Perth Wood School and Fine Woodworking Assoc WA
