This year's Melbourne Hand Tool Event will take place from March 18–19 at the new premises of Vesper Tools at 9A Leah Grove, Carrum Downs, Vic. This is the first time since moving that the Vesper Tools workshop has been open to the public.

On the weekend a range of displays and demonstrations will include:
• Melbourne Guild of Fine Woodworking: fine furniture, demonstrations and timber for sale
• Thomas Lloyd Guitars: demonstrations plus sales of tonewoods and bits
• Henry Eckert Tools: Lie Nielsen tools and Lost Art Press agency
• Dunstone Design: chairmaking kits, woodworking tools and accessories
• Japanese Tools Australia: individually sourced hand tools for sale
• Best Abrasives: Mirka sanders and consumables
• Tetsuro Izumitani: select secondhand Japanese tools.
• Vintage and garage sale: includes all sorts of oddments, industrial cast iron things and even a vintage fire extinguisher
• Hand Tool Preservation Association: secondhand handplanes, chisels, saws and probably much more
• Vesper Tools: the full range of squares, sliding bevels, marking knives and more

DOVETAIL OLYMPICS: So You Think You Can Dovetail? This is your opportunity to shine! Hand tools and pine timber provided. Dual it out against each other with a timed joint: one tail, two pins. Five second penalties added per playing card of gap. Grand Prize will be a Vesper Tools 7" Brass sliding bevel to be allocated to the winner on Sunday. Start training now!
