Comments Comments

WoodFest is a multi-layered event coming up soon which puts sustainably grown native timbers firmly into the spotlight.

Staged in the Byron Bay hinterland, WoodFest’s Native Timber Showcase and Design Competition is all about highlighting a new resource of subtropical timber that is being grown sustainably in farm forestry plantings. You still have time to enter by the April 9 deadline, details are here.

On Sunday April 15, there will be a Native Timber Showcase of local makers and a panel discussion from the growers. Visitors will be able to see the Design Competition entries and witness the prize ceremony. Farm tours and milling demonstrations will also feature. The event is free with the Bangalow Men’s Shed hosting a BBQ lunch, serenaded by local musician Luke Bennett.

This event is about showcasing the way that subtropical native species are now being grown, harvested and utilised for high value use.

‘From seed, to tree, to product’ is the theme of an event which represents a collaboration between Specialty Timber Growers Inc (Qld) and the Subtropical Farm Forestry Association Inc (NSW) that is supported by the Farming Together Federal Program.
