Introducing Wood Dust Designer Maker

A message from the organisers of Wood Dust Australia:

Developing strong design skills is challenging for the woodworking enthusiast and emerging designer maker alike. This is because designing is not a capability one can simply pick-up from a magazine or YouTube, it is a physical experience of experimentation and practice built upon hard technical skills.

Wood Dust recognises this challenge for the Australian woodworker and so we offer our new event – Wood Dust Designer Maker. Held at Melbourne’s newest makerspace FAB9 in Footscray from the 8 – 11 of August, this event explores the art of design for woodworking and the processes of fine craftsmanship.

Wood Dust Designer Maker offers a full suite of events including Masterclasses with leading designer makers including Vic Tesolin, David Haig, Reed Hansuld from New York, Carol Russell, Ross Annels and Melbourne’s own Bern Chandley.

Designer Maker also offers a new innovative event, the Weekend at Wood Dust Makers Conference with rolling live demonstrations featuring Matt Kenney, Adam Markowitz and Alastair Boell to name a few. Register your interest at and enter the draw to win a free two day pass.

And to top it off, adjacent to all the action is our Timber & Tool Marketplace with your favourite timber and tool suppliers including Timbecon, Jim Davey and Carbatec.

If you want to build your design and woodworking skills alongside other passionate woodworkers, then don’t miss Wood Dust Designer Maker.
