“What you make from a tree should be at least as miraculous as what you cut down” (The Overstory – Richard Powers, 2019 Pulitzer Prize Winning Fiction).

The Bribie and District Woodcrafters Annual Exhibition The Wonder of Wood is in keeping with Powers’ sentiments and will showcase work produced in all aspects of woodcrafting and wood art. This exhibition is a celebration of the wonder of wood and the excellence and artistry of Bribie Woodcrafters’ members, as well the talents of students from the Bribie Island State High School.
The annual exhibition is held in the Matthew Flinders Gallery and is a significant drawcard for intra and inter-regional and interstate visitors to Bribie Island, with over 1500 people visiting the exhibition annually.

This year’s exhibition will have over 600 amazing pieces of woodcraft and wood art on display, with many items for sale.
The Wonder of Wood will be open to the general public from 9am to 4pm daily, commencing Saturday 19th October through to Sunday 27th October. The Bribie Island Community Arts Centre is the focal point of the art and craft in the district with the Woodcrafters’ exhibition complementing the centre’s diverse range of artistic activities.

It promises to be another great exhibition – well worth a visit. Please mark your calendar to ensure you do not miss this opportunity to enjoy the unique combination of wood and art.
