Blackall Ranges Woodcrafters Expo 2018
Words and photos: John Andrews
The Blackall Range Woodcrafters Guild’s annual Wood Expo was held on the weekend of 7 and 8 of July in the Montville State School’s main hall.
Attendance on Saturday was down a little on previous Expos, due no doubt to the inclement weather. Sunday’s attendance was considerably better.
The hall was brimming with items of all shapes and sizes made from wood. Most of the items were for sale, but others were entered in the competition. Items on display were many and varied and ranged from wooden spoons to a tri-trailer semi-trailer.
The canteen was kept busy selling tea and coffee, and cup cakes kindly made and donated by the school’s Parents and Citizens Association.
The Woodies are extremely grateful to the Montville State School for its generosity and co-operation and offer their thanks to the Principal, Caretaker and the Ladies Auxiliary. Thanks also to the members of the public for their valued patronage.
The Woodies’ sheds are located near the Montville Sports Grounds and are open from Monday to Saturday inclusive from 8.00am to 11.30am and welcome all men and women who are interested in working with wood. Various courses are offered on a regular basis.
