Entries are now open for this year's Australian Furniture Design Award. Presented by JamFactory and Stylecraft the award is open to emerging and established designers who are Australian citizens.

The deadline for entry is 15 May 2017 and the entered product must be original work and not be subject to any current manufacturing agreements. If selected as a finalist, a prototype of the entered product must be available for exhibition from July 2017.

Judges for 2017 are: Jon Goulder, Creative Director Furniture Design Studio – JamFactory, Tony Russell, Brand Director – Stylecraft, Rebecca Evans, Curator of European and Australian Decorative Arts – Art Gallery of South Australia, Susan Standring, Practice Director – Carr Design Group, Stephen Todd, Design Editor – Australian Financial Review Magazine. The winner will be announced on 5 July 2017.

The criteria for judging are originality of design, level of innovation, suitability of design for intended function or purpose, quality and finish of prototype and commercial viability.

The winner will receive $20,000 cash, acquisition of the winning prototype by the Art Gallery of South Australia, a residency within the JamFactory Furniture Studio (including travel and up to four weeks accommodation) to develop a design through to commercial production, and distribution of the resulting product or product range through Stylecraft’s showrooms throughout Australia and Singapore.
