Huon pine, jarrah, Sydney figured bluegum, stainless steel rod/s

1600 l x 450 w x 930mm h

The hall table that I built was mainly for a very decorative look. My hall table is made out of all Australian timbers, which was my aim when I was designing the project.

The top components being figured Sydney bluegum, separated by stainless steel rods which are drilled into the inner edges of the top pieces. The drawer system having the main box made out of Tasmanian Huon pine with dovetails on the corners, jarrah drawer fronts with a huon pine inlay that was hand cut and inlayed, as well as having Huon pine drawer inners joined to the fronts with hand cut dovetails. This drawer system being a feature piece as it is hung freely by stainless steel rods from the top of the job, bolted into the top of the drawer system. The main carcase of the table is made up out of jarrah joined to the tapered legs by a domino joint.

I finished my hall table in gloss wip-on poly, I applied 10 coats of wipe on poly, sanding inbetween coats with fine steel wool, which gives it a very shiny and amazing finish.
