Norhani Mohd Ali, Malaysia

‘The idea was to design a low "rocking chair" to accommodate a parent and a small child.’

Construction
The frame and rockers are made of solid blackwood. The seat has been constructed from two pieces of bendy-ply sandwiched onto a frame with pine ribs. The white leather is laser etched with patterns of hibiscus flower (a Malaysian floral emblem) motive in a 'batik’ style. Dome button-like upholstery nails were given a bronze finish to give a country and old' look to this unique two-seater rocking chair.

Glues
PVA, Megapoxy (Vivacity Engineering Pty Ltd), contact adhesive.

Finishes
Three coats of furniture wax and leather moisturiser.
