Concept
The concept is an elegant, slender free
standing display cabinet which would suit
the display of fine ceramics, glass or
sculpture but would also in itself be
a collectors piece of fine furniture featuring
Australia’s magnificent timbers.
I have attempted to design and create
a cabinet suspended between slender curved
legs with a small chest of drawers suspended
within the cabinet.
The design uses contrasting woods for
subtle details such as the corners of
the cabinet. The design also incorporates
flexibility with the removable / adjustable
glass shelf and drawers for the storage
of smaller items.
The use of figured wood in the cabinet
sides and the lighter Huon pine in the
back displays these fine Australian timbers
while reflecting light onto the displayed
items.
The transport of the cabinet is made easier
by the door being removable.
