Clock 0143
Jarrah, fiddleback sycamore, ancient redgum,
phenolic resin, brass, steel, glass.
Joinery
Three-way mitre joints to clock case using
Festool Domino system, and pinned mortise
and tenons.
Glues
Titebond III, Araldite super strength.
Finishes
Haymes tung oil, six coats and rubbed
back with 400 grit paper between coats,
and then buffed with Renaissance furniture
wax.
Concept
My idea was to produce a compact, functional
clock capable of eight day running time,
and accurate to with a few minutes a week.
The clock movement is spring driven, and
visually suspended within a glass sided
minimalist ‘cube’ clock case
which can be assembled like a Chinese
puzzle.
