David Innocente, Flinders Park, SA

This jewellery box is a little more standard in design but has an interesting look to it.
All the timber used is pine, cut to size from standard manufactured material. The drawers all use butt joints that are nailed and glued and the bases are 3mm MDF which is nailed to the drawers. All the timber is painted in two coats of Cabots oil based clear polyurethane. The trim used throughout is black Nylex suede.
The outer shell is 1mm mild steel that is painted in two-pack.
All fittings and washers are stainless steel .The feet and drawer locaters are 5/16 chromed dome nuts. Hinges are also stainless steel. All edging is 12 x 3mm hand polished aluminium. All work is done by hand.
The concept of my designs is to create non traditional style jewellery boxes that combine beautiful timber, whether it is exotic or not, boldly coloured steel and very industrial materials, perhaps even recycled. The designs themselves should also use interesting shapes, angles and if possible have quirky features. The overall result being as functional yet as artistic as possible.
