Material
Bamboo usually comes from Eastern countries, such as China, but some comes from Queensland in Australia. Bamboo has been used in other products for a long time in some countries, like Japan. Nowadays bamboo has become more popular in furniture design. Bamboo can be made in plywood or compressed panels. Bamboo panels have different patterns and they are known as bamwood, vertical and horizontal.

Joinery
The tabletop has been laser cut and joined with biscuits and small pieces of bamboo panel underneath for support. The table legs are joined with plate legs and leg screws underneath the top.

Glue
PVA has been used for the table legs joining with several panels of bamboo.

Finishes
WATTYL professional natural teak oil has been used for the finishing of the table.

Concept
Design intent: Showing the beauty of bamboo, with the theme of Sydney Opera House, creates a piece of cross-cultural design.

Cross-cultural Design
As I come from Hong Kong, a city which consists of Eastern and Western culture. My designs always combine eastern and western style.

Beauty of bamboo
This table is made with horizontal panel which shows the beauty of bamboo. This table allows to show the surface and edges of bamboo panel. It shows the different patterns which is a pleasant feature of bamboo.

Emotional/ Personal Appeal
The main concept of this table is the image of photo frame for the tabletop. This table reflects an experience in my life, a perfect moment in front of the Sydney Opera House. The wings represent Sydney Opera House and the curly line between represents water. At the same time, those wings represent my partner and I. In addition, the glass reflects the shapes on itself, so it is called Reflection.
