Back from the Bin
wardrobe and multi-shelf cupboard

This project grew out of a teenage daughter’s growing need for clothing space. The carcases were made from the damaged remains of old school lockers, salvaged from the dumping bin. The doors and shelves were likewise made from rescued timbers.

Construction entailed regluing and clamping splits in the side panels, filling unneeded rebates and mortices and sanding away unnecessary glue (from 50 years ago) and accumulated paint layers.
‘I had two engrossing weeks recycling these materials, enjoying using wonderful quality timbers from the past, sadly less readily available today.’
