Grandfather
clock
blackwood, Huon pine
‘My grandfather
and I spent many days together collecting
timber, milling logs on his sawmill in
the Grampians and stacking it to dry.
As encouragement for me to enjoy his hobby
of woodturning each visit he would bring
a cardboard box of carefully stacked,
dry offcuts of timber to last me the next
week. After his death I found in his shed,
my next shipment of timber – sorted,
boxed and ready for delivery. I decided
to use this timber to build this clock
in his memory.’
