Jennifer Loy
Diddillibah, Qld

‘The material for this piece came from the bins of a sawmill that makes spotted gum flooring. Each day over three cubic metres are binned and the company has to pay to have them removed, to then be burnt as firewood. The company is very keen to see the waste used in a value-added application.

‘The design for this piece came out of the desire to exploit the size of the pieces of timber by making something that could only be made from small pieces. It is a lovely piece to walk around now it is finished as you follow the shape upwards as you go. The view through the lattice changes too.’
