Bedroom bench
recycled hoop pine
‘I live
overlooking the sea in Byron Bay, in an
area once covered by the Big Scrub rainforest.
I’ve always been fascinated by the
now scarce rainforest timbers and lamented
how the area was stripped of the beautiful
trees that took so long to grow. I enjoy
making furniture from recycled timber
for two reasons: firstly it was often
from large trees with superior grain and
character rarely seen now, and secondly,
I hate to see this valuable resource going
to waste.’
Hoop pine hall
table
‘My daughter
Carly graduated from university and I
built her a hoop pine hall table to mark
the occasion. It is an original design,
of slender proportions with a small drawer
and showcases the beautiful colour of
mature hoop pine.’
